Firm Towing Mirror Arms
To prevent vibration, your Clearview mirrors should always feel firm when extending and retracting. However, if your mirrors feel like they are too stiff, it’s time to lubricate your towing mirror arms.
We recommend lubricating the mirror arms every six months, as well as whenever stiffness occurs, or after a long trip.
This includes pulling the mirror into the fully extended position,
unclipping the plastic telescopic cover, and applying the dry lubricant on both arms. Once complete, re-clip the plastic telescopic covers back into place and extend and retract the mirrors a few times to ensure the lubricant works its way over the arms.
Avoid wax-based lubricants, as they can attract dirt and grit that may damage the internal mechanism over time. For best results, we recommend WD-40 Specialist Dry Lubricant.
Here’s the key tip: Standing in line with the mirror head, position both hands on the inside of the mirror head, between the arms, and gently tug towards you.
This method ensures you’re not fighting against the angle of the arms and makes extending the mirrors a breeze.
