Mirror Installation Quick-Start Guide

For a flawless installation, every time.

Quick-Start Mirror Installation Guide

Welcome to the Clearview Accessories family. This quick-start guide helps you deliver a flawless installation experience. Follow these steps to ensure correct mirror fitment, verified functionality, and a smooth install.

Before you start
To ensure a smooth workflow, gather the following items before starting on the vehicle:

  1. The vehicle-specific Clearview installation manual (Found either inside the box or downloadable here)
  2. The empty Clearview boxes (to store the original factory mirrors)

Installation Steps

Follow this workflow to install the mirrors.

Before doing anything to the vehicle, inspect the mirror base mounting area, door trims and surrounding surfaces for any existing scratches, scuffs, or marks, and note any dashboard warning or error lights.

1. Disconnect the battery before installation

As vehicles become more sophisticated and software-driven, it is important to disconnect the battery before installing towing mirrors or any other electrical accessory. This is especially important on CAN bus-enabled vehicles to help protect the vehicle’s electrical and control systems.

2. Install and route wiring safely

  • Follow the supplied installation instructions.
  • Ensure all wires are routed correctly and are not pinched or trapped between the rubber mirror gasket or the door trim components.
  • Confirm all mounting bolts are secure, the mirror base sits tightly against the vehicle, and the rubber gasket is positioned completely flush between the mirror base and the door panel. If the gasket is folded or wedged under the base, loosen the mirror and correct the gasket before tightening.
  • Do not reconnect the battery until both towing mirrors (and any cameras) have been connected.
  • To save time, do not fully re-affix the door trims until after you have tested the mirror functions.

3. Test all electronic functions

When both mirrors are installed, sit in the driver’s seat and;

  • Verify Powerfold and Indicators: Check that the Powerfold function operates smoothly and all mirror indicators flash correctly.
  • Test mirror glass adjustment: Confirm the electronic mirror glass adjustment operates correctly from the driver’s seat, with full range of motion in all directions. Verify the left control moves the mirror left, the right control moves it right, and the up and down controls adjust accordingly.
  • If your mirror is not functioning properly, a cable has likely been trapped during installation.

4. Verify advanced systems

  • Verify Blind Spot Indicator (BSM): On vehicle models equipped with mirror-mounted BSM, confirm both indicators illuminate at start-up. On some models, a short drive may be required to verify correct BSM operation.
  • Check 360 camera operation: Ensure the Birds Eye View cameras display correctly on the dashboard screen and align properly, by following the installation instruction alignment procedure.
  • Troubleshoot camera display (if needed): If an ‘X’ appears on the screen where the camera image should be, verify you installed the dedicated left and right cameras in their correct housings. Check that all camera cables plug in securely.

5. Re-affix door trim

  • If your mirror functions correctly, it is now time to re-affix your door panel into position. If your mirror is not functioning properly, follow the instructions again just in case a step has been missed.
  • If your mirror (or window switch) is not functioning properly, a cable has likely been trapped behind the door trim during installation, or a plug isn’t securely connected.

6. Pack and store the factory mirrors

  • Place the uninstalled factory mirrors and all related components into the empty Clearview box.
  • We recommend keeping your original factory mirrors as a backup. If your Clearview mirror ever needs repair, your factory mirrors can help keep your vehicle roadworthy while you wait.

7. Towing Mirror Adjustment

Proper mirror adjustment is essential for safe driving and towing. Whether your vehicle is fitted with a dual-mirror setup or a single-mirror design, this guide will help you set up your Clearview Towing Mirrors correctly after installation.

8. Warranty and Repair Escalations

If you have a product issue, or you encounter a defect during installation, follow our standard Return Authority Process:

Problem: A mirror has a manufacturing fault or requires out-of-warranty repair.

Fix: Notify Clearview immediately with a written description and photos or videos of the fault and the original proof of purchase. We will assess the claim and guide you on repair, replacement, or returning the product to our facility.

This is the easiest and most efficient way to extend your mirrors!

Here’s the key tip: Standing in line with the mirror head, position both hands on the inside of the mirror head, between the arms, and gently tug towards you.

This method ensures you’re not fighting against the angle of the arms and makes extending the mirrors a breeze.

This is the easiest and most efficient way to retract your mirrors!

Here’s the key tip: Standing in line with the mirror head, place both palms on the centre of the mirror head side and gently but firmly push back towards the mirror mount.

This method ensures you’re not fighting against the angle of the arms.

Remember, your Clearview mirrors should always feel firm when extending and retracting. However, if your mirrors feel like they are too stiff, it’s time to lubricate your towing mirror arms.

In this video we show you how to extend and retract your towing mirrors the right way.
