Clearview Swing Boards: Swing Into the Future of Vehicle Access.

For many 4×4 owners, modifying a vehicle creates a common paradox: you increase ground clearance for better off-road performance, but you simultaneously make the vehicle harder to live with daily. Getting into a lifted ute or a large SUV isn’t always graceful. While traditional side steps or rock sliders offer a solution, they often reduce the very clearance you fought to gain, or they sit awkwardly high, acting more like a balance beam than a step.
Clearview Accessories has introduced a solution that bridges the gap between rugged functionality and premium comfort. The new Clearview Swing Boards represent the next evolution in vehicle access, redefining the electric side step market with a new design that prioritises natural movement and safety.

Traditional electric side steps have been around for years, with a vertical drop that can often place the step too close to the vehicle body. This forces the passenger to step awkwardly close to the sill, often twisting their knee or ankle to hoist themselves inside.
Clearview Swing Boards take a different approach. Instead of merely dropping straight down, these boards utilise an innovative “swing” motion. When the door sensor triggers the mechanism, the board swings outward and lowers into position simultaneously.
This arced movement places the step further away from the vehicle body, creating a true “staircase” effect rather than a ladder-climb sensation. By positioning the stepping platform further out, the board meets your foot where it naturally falls, allowing for a fluid, forward-momentum entry into the cabin.

The primary advantage of the Swing Board design is ergonomic comfort.  Climbing into a large SUV like the Toyota Prado 250 Series can strain the hips and knees, especially for children, the elderly, or anyone with mobility challenges. The Swing Boards lower to an accessible height – dropping 80mm downwards – while swinging out to provide a wide, unrestricted platform. This geometry significantly reduces the physical effort required to enter the vehicle.  The boards themselves are substantial, measuring 150mm in width and 1485mm in length. This generous surface area provides confident footing, even for those wearing heavy work boots or hiking gear.

One of the standout specifications of the new Swing Boards is their strength. Each step boasts a massive 300kg load capacity. This ensures that the boards remain stable and secure even when supporting fully geared-up passengers or heavy equipment loading.

IP68 Rated Motors: The heart of any electric step is the motor. If water gets in, the step fails. The Clearview Swing Boards’ IP68-rated motors indicates that the motors are dust-tight and can withstand immersion in water beyond 1 meter.

What happens if the step deploys while an obstacle is in the way? Clearview has integrated a safety cut-off feature into the Swing Board system. The board utilises sensitive resistance detection. If the step encounters an obstruction – whether it’s a rock, or a person’s leg, or a child’s arm – during its closing cycle, it instantly holds its position. This prevents damage to the motor, damage to the vehicle, and, most importantly, injury to the user.

Modern 4x4s, particularly the new Toyota Prado 250 Series, are designed with sleek lines and aerodynamic profiles. Bolt-on accessories can sometimes look out of place, disrupting the vehicle’s visual flow.
Clearview Swing Boards are designed to blend in when not in use. When the door closes, the board automatically retracts, tucking away cleanly against the body of the vehicle. This preserves the vehicle’s ground clearance – crucial for off-roading – and maintains the factory aesthetic. When retracted, they blend so seamlessly that they look like a factory-installed feature rather than an aftermarket add-on.

No-Drill Installation: For vehicle owners concerned about corrosion or structural integrity, the installation process is a major plus. The Swing Boards are designed to mount directly into existing factory holes. There is no need to drill new holes into the chassis or bodywork. This non-invasive installation method preserves the vehicle’s resale value and structural warranties. Each side is supported by two strong mounting brackets, ensuring rigidity and long-term durability without altering the vehicle’s frame.
